Inspiration


I have been interested in Juan Miro for a while. I saw his paintings and liked them even before I new who he was. From the little I know of him and his work, I love his symbolism and obscurity. I like that I every time I look at one of his paintings I see it in a little different way or see something that I have not noticed before. I think the most compelling area of Miro’s art is that I don’t fully understand it. It hooks me, like a puzzle would. I stare trying to figure out every part.

Design Specs


My idea is to take Miro’s style of imagery and use it to create a picture of my own. I took several pictures of Eid last year (08). I plan to distill the most interesting parts of these pictures and compose an artwork out of those distilled parts. Then simplify it down into basic shapes and lines, similar to Miro’s style. Instead of using Miro’s common color palette of pure primary and secondary colors, I am thinking about using local Bengali colors of lime green, rusty orange and light purple. The major focus will be Unifying/Balancing the elements of shape and color. At the moment, I thinking my art piece will be a drawing using ink, color pencils, and watercolors. However, if I really like my drawing composition, I may try to take a part out and create a sculpture of that area.
